This culture and language program series will be led by a native Taiwanese Chinese speaker — Lansin Laoshi (Teacher Stephanie). Join us for any or all of these fun, interactive and educational sessions. This program is for a family audience, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Taiwanese Culture and Food-
Learn about iconic Taiwanese traditions — from making boba milk tea to the story of mooncakes, the celebration of Chinese New Year, and the legends of the Zodiac animals.
Session 2-Sunday Feb. 15
The Artful Etymology of Chinese Characters
Discover the beauty and logic behind Chinese writing. For example, 山 (shān, mountain) resembles the shape of a mountain; 火 (huǒ, fire) looks like a burning flame; and 好 (hǎo, good) combines the characters for “girl” and “boy,” symbolizing harmony and balance in traditional culture.
Session 3-Sunday Feb. 22
Everyday Conversational Chinese
Begin learning and
practice authentic Mandarin as spoken in Taiwan. You’ll learn how to greet, say goodbye, and talk about your weekend in Chinese. We’ll also explore Taiwan’s cities and famous spots such as Taroko Gorge and Taipei 101.
